Westernport Water says thanks
Westernport Water would like to thank the Silverleaves community for their patience and understanding following flooding from a burst water main earlier this week.
Peter Quigley, Managing Director of Westernport Water, said that the burst water main had affected approximately 30 properties in the Silverleaves area.
“We understand that any flooding of private property is distressing for residents and inconvenient for the local community. We are committed to working with our customers in response to the incident.” said Mr Quigley.
“Unfortunately, given the timing, location and recent wet weather conditions, water levels rose quickly and there is evidence of water entering a limited number of households.
“With the volume of water that impacted the area, it made it challenging for our maintenance teams to respond.
“Water levels have subsided considerably since the incident and our maintenance crews will continue to reduce water levels over the coming days, said Mr Quigley.
The cause of the burst water main is under investigation; however it appears that severe winds on Monday night have disturbed a large tree and consequently damaged the water main.
Westernport Water encourages residents impacted by the incident to contact our Customer Relations Team on 1300 720 711 so that we may assist.
The community is encouraged to report suspected leaks or bursts at any hour by contacting Westernport Water’s 24-hour hotline on 1800 249 090.
Once again we thank the Silverleaves community for their patience and understanding through this incident.
