Urban Water Strategy
All Victorian water businesses are required to engage with their customers and local communities to develop their Urban Water Strategies. These strategies outline how water businesses will manage demand for, and ensure sufficient supplies of, drinking water across their service regions.
Development of Urban Water Strategy
Westernport Water reviews its Urban Water Strategy every five years, which involves assessing our plans against a number of factors including climate change and population growth. The Strategy is a long-term planning tool to inform our actions that secure our water future over the next 50 years.
When developing the 2022 strategy we engaged with customers, community and stakeholders to identify the best ways to sustainably and economically service customers. The aim was to develop a strategy to inform our strategic water resource management direction, actions and projects necessary to balance the available water supplies with the demand of our region’s future water needs.
