Funding available to improve water efficiency

WaterSmart Program - Government Funding Now Available

Westernport Water is assisting local business and community organisations to take control of their water use and become more water efficient thanks to the Victorian Government’s WaterSmart program.

The Program, is being delivered locally by Westernport Water with $150,000 available to help businesses and organisations to install data loggers to monitor water use, enabling them to detect leaks and reduce water and energy costs.

Funding for eligible organisations is available to 30 June 2025, under three streams including; monitoring water use through data logger technology; water use audits and undetected leak identification; and sporting ground audits which includes upgrades and retrofits.

We invite high and medium water-using businesses to apply for free data loggers, providing real-time water usage monitoring and high-use alerts.

By monitoring water use online, businesses will be able to detect and fix leaks quickly, reduce water wastage, save money and better fulfill their climate change reporting obligations.

The WaterSmart program is delivering actions in the Central and Gippsland Region Sustainable Water Strategy, which aim to maximise water efficiency in business and community-based organisations, such as councils, sporting facilities and hospitals.
