Preliminary approval for Westernport Water’s five-year price plan
The Essential Services Commission has given preliminary approval of Westernport Water’s price submission.
Only two of 14 water businesses received preliminary approval from the Commission. The draft decision was provided earlier than expected due to the quality of Westernport Water’s submission and the customer value it represented.
As per Westernport Water’s proposal, the plan will see a typical household’s annual water and sewerage bill (before inflation) rise from the current level of $1,227 to $1,230 in 2023-24, and then remain steady until 30 June 2028.
The Commission’s Executive Director of Pricing, Marcus Crudden, stated on 20 December 2022 that Westernport Water had prioritised affordability as a key customer outcome and focused on water quality and the environment.
