Future proofing your water supply

Westernport Water will test its connection to the Melbourne water supply system this summer to ensure that it performs reliably in the future when we need it most.

Managing Director Peter Quigley commented that the purpose of testing the connection is to be prepared for what is predicted to be a drier future.

“The Melbourne water supply system is a valuable source of water that we can choose to access when we most need it. We need to know that it can be accessed with confidence during times of peak demand,” said Mr Quigley.

“The Melbourne water supply system may include water from a number of reservoirs and catchments across the state, as well as desalinated water.”

“Westernport Water plans to access water from the Melbourne water supply system over a four month period, from late December 2019 to April 2020.”

“Our connection to the pipeline linking the Victorian Desalination Plant to Cardinia Reservoir will provide our customers with access to another safe and secure water supply.”

“There will be no additional cost to Westernport Water customers as a result of testing the connection,” said Mr Quigley.
